Last Saturday was the wedding of Karen and James…..and what a completely brilliant day it was!! I met with Karen and James last year to discuss their plans for the day, and as soon as they described them, I knew we were all going to be in for a great day.
Bruisyard Hall is stunning. There really are no other words to describe their choosen venue – set in the middle of the Suffolk countryside, surrounded by 700 acres of unspoilt countryside. The hall and barn together offer the perfect set up for a wedding with room for 24 guests to stay and have free roam of the fabulous surrounding. It’s a venue that I’ve been desperate to return to after assisting another photographer there last year.
When I arrived at the Hall I was greeted by 2 of Karen and James’ rather over excited Labradors, who insisted on chasing me around the hall as I searched the huge rooms for Karen and her bridesmaid!! The atmosphere was totally relaxed as Karen had her makeup and hair done, with the occasional excitable moment as we spied on James walking across the lawn and guests arriving!
I remembered Karen telling me that she wouldn’t be wearing a ‘traditional’ wedding dress, but I didn’t expect anything as beautiful as what she brought out of the cupboard. The most gorgeous black and gold sequinned fitted dress with perfectly matching gold shoes!!!
All 5……yes 5 (!) bestmen and James looked extremely handsome in their suits and I had great fun taking photos of them later on in the day.
The ceremony and wedding breakfast both took place in the 17th century timber barn that has been renovated to absolute perfection. Karen looked so beautiful as she walked down the isle to her man who was waiting for her with their 3 dogs. The ceremony was followed by canapés and drinks in the courtyard before the 3 course wedding breakfast. The evening entertainment was provided by a Barn dancing Group called The Lairds. It was hilarious to watch so many tipsy people trying to follow the main lady who was trying desperately to get everyone in line and following the correct steps!!
Karen and James thank you for such a great day. I hope you both have a fantastic honeymoon away with your dogs (I will be coming to steal Stan soon….) and I hope you enjoy looking through your photos.
Thank you also to the wonderful Jessica Roberts who assisted me on the day!
